63 years after John F. Kennedy's 'we choose to go to the moon' speech, NASA's Artemis program plans to put humans back on the lunar surface

On September 12, 1962, President John F. Kennedy told 40,000 people in Rice University's football stadium that by the end of the decade, the United States would land astronauts on the moon. "But why, some say, the moon?" he posed to the crowd. "Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic?
