Astronauts have wonky thymic ‪immune‬ activity in space, which could impact their ability to respond to ‪‎infection‬

Scientists looked at thymic function in 16 astronauts before and after they had an extended space flight. The output of T cells and glucocorticoid production were reduced and suppressed after a long period in space. This has the potential to influence the T cell repertoire, which might impact the ability of space travellers to mount robust immune responses to infection.
